What a silly idea! I'd rather spend it on tatooing someone's head with my site's URL ;)

If I had it, I would invest it so that I would never have to work... And I would of course use part of it for one huge party for all my friends...

$250,000 isn't enough for investing and living without work. You'd need around $10,000,000 for low-risk investing and comfortablyliving without working. However, you can call it investment as well - buy the whole collection and then try to send the best pieces for profit ;).

Mr Creosote: Maybe we can strike a deal here... ;)

I like this sentence.

It doesn't seem unwarranted to value Zork I at $80, when in 1984 it was $40.

If I had a million dollars, I'd buy you 4-complete-sets-of-old-game-boxes-for-many-systems-including-the-odyssey2.

How does tattooing someone's head help you, besides possibly increasing web trafic and making the person look stupid.

How does buying an extremely expensive car 'help you'?

It makes me look cool, even though I would only be able to drive it for less than a year then have it sit there for 3 and then be able to drive it again. Stupid Australian road laws

Well, tatooing someone's head fulfills the same purpose ( 'being cool' ). So there.

I personally spend around $250 per month because of where I live :D. However, this is why I recommend $10,000,000:

Put one half into a money market fund - highly liquid and virtually risk-free. Currently, it earns about 1%. That's $50,000 per year. Put $4,000,000 into treasury notes. Current yield around 5% will give you another $200,000. There's a risk, however, of capital loss. Put the rest into medium-risk high-yield equity, which yields roughly 10%, due to depressed markets. That's an additional $100,000, but you risk capital loss or even default.

Together, you'll have $350,000 per year. That puts you into the highest tax bracket - 39%. You'll end up with $213,500 per year, or roughly $18,000 per month. Arguably, this is a lot of money. However, if you want to have a family, if will assure you only comfortable living, nothing extravagant...

Yes well seeing as I live alone (and will probably die alone too :)) I wouldn't need that much cash and 250.000 dollars would be quite enough to live of here in belgium...
