Mostly because IE has some many #$^^@! sercurity holes and saves every damn picture you see on the web, no matter how much cache space one sets. Also, IE kept bogging down badly because a virus kept entering it, one that liked to type in boxes such as this by itself (Just commas and the word "if". Bugger.).  Member Retired Gumby Posts: 964 | I haven't tried the latest version of Opera yet, but I'm pretty sure it's better than Internet Explorer. Yesterday I switched to Phoenix 0.5, mainly because I've never used most of Mozilla's components (mail/news, adress book, IRC), and they were useless for me. Thus, I'm using Phoenix as a "browser only" vesion of Mozilla right now, especially since I applied a theme that's similar to the Mozilla look. Let's see if it will stand the test.  Edit: As for Internet Explorer security issues, does anyone have further information about the "index.dat" file that is located in the windows/cookies directory? It's just there and its size grows each time you're using Internet Explorer. Furthermore, it can't be deleted by common means from a Windows OS. It will supposedly someday include 'Satchel' as a replacement, but in the meantime, I think it's really lame having a browser capable of saving passwords but with no decent way to manage them. If it really was an index of all cookies, it's just strange that the file size seems to grow even after deleting all cookies. That would mean it contains an index of all cookies you've ever had on your computer. Another reason for not using this browser. Microsoft Service Pack 1 That's right, I got an "automatic update" for Service Pack 1, and the security code, and memory allocation got so messed up it brings your system to a crawl.  Member Retired Gumby Posts: 743 | Yep, the index.dat file keeps records of your cookies, history, etc indefinitely, even after the files it keeps a record of have been deleted. There are some programs that will delete the index.dat files for you (there are 3 of them, one in the cookies folder, one in history, and one in the temp files folder). MC- The multizilla addon for mozilla has a quick prefs feature, in fact i find it more useful than opera's. Member Retired Gumby Posts: 743 | It is pretty pointless having a tabs addon when mozilla itself is tabbed. I love the quick prefs menu. Multizilla also adss a few other features that I use, but i can remember what all features are from mozilla and which ones are from multizilla. To enable the quick prefs menu, go into prefs->multizilla->buttons There are 3 different checkboxes for the quick prefs, each one turns it on in a different toolbar. (You can have any 1, 2, or all 3 turned on at once.) Once it's turned on, the quick prefs button is a yellow wrench. ----- At the end of the day, you're left with a bent fork & a pissed off rhino. |

One of the things I like best about mozilla is the ability to middle click links to open them in background tabs. The fact that some of the features are appearing doesn't mean much, it could have only gotten partially installed.
