Welcome, beckermatic and ingenting! You both indeed have some not so common tastes there. Yes, game consoles are nowadays much more popular in retrospect. Old applications get even less love than home computer games.

Hello, Downloaded a game Mech warrior 2. I reinstalled Windows 98 on a old Dell Optiplex GX150 to play Pinball and install my DOOM floppy disks. sure like these old games!!! I got a old Microsoft Flight Simulator on floppy too, with the manual I just found digging in a old box. Later!!!

Found this website, because you claim to have the german version of Chewy - Esc from F5. My CD is somewhere at my parents house. Anyway, I hope that ScummVM helps this game to gain popularity.

Hi, I'm new here.

Came here looking for "Die total verrückte Rallye"/"Dr. Drago's MadCap Chase" and stayed for all the other classics :-)

New member here.

I saw the listing for Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective Vol. I for PC (DOS) and immediately flashed back to 1982.

I have the original paper-based games by Sleuth Publications, Ltd from 1982. I remember long hours pondering over clues trying to solve the cases. I'm very curious how these played 10 years later on the early pc's. Happy to see them archived here.

New guy here. Mostly here to do research in to the earliest years of the FPS genre. I was an amiga user back in the 90s but never really played the FPSes that came out there. Though I certainly played a lot of Wolfenstein3D on a friend's PC and later Doom on various platforms.

I've recently done a deep dive on the FPSes that the amiga plarform did get to see what was achieved there (mostly bad, with one or two highlights). But then I figured my half remembered memories of PC FPSes probably weren't a fair comparison. So now I'm tinkering with a 86Box and a 486 install to see exactly how did the Amiga FPSes shape up with the competition of the time

Hello danby, I played through pretty much all those Amiga 3D shooters five years ago (all documented here on the site). I think your conclusion that they were all rather poor, with one or two exceptions, is pretty much spot on. Though you are also correct that this doesn't say anything about the big picture, how they compared to what went on elsewhere. After all, this genre doesn't exactly age well in general. My feeling for this was (spoiler ;)) that they compared ok if you mentally shift the timeline backwards by a few years. I.e. a 3D shooter on Amiga in 1996 is about equivalent to one on PC in 1993.

Definitely interested what you find!

That really depends on what kind of games you like, doesn't it?

Hi!,

I like old games and I want to learn German. Some friends from Germany told me they learned English with The Secret of Monkey Island and a English->Deutsch Dictionary. So why not try it myself? Thanks for having a place I can find games in German!
