Yeah, the dark future we never dreamed of, but always feared, is real.

It's funny how many people say that. Yet nobody wants to leave those large, corporately controlled "networks".

Well, I feel I'm covering that pretty well.

I mean it's only been 17 years so not much ;-)

I found out that there is a new fork of dosbox called dosbox-staging and looking into it's updates pushed me into nostalgia mode. Now I'm gonna run some real old games in cga mode with scanlines just to see what I used to love.

Shoo the games environment and the internet has changed since those days. I kinda miss the old, smaller communities. And people's different websites. Man there were some good ones.

Well, of course I remember that! I also remember it left me frustrated, because it ended as another thing with good intentions to integrate people, to do something together, to get into conversation about games which… didn't work out.

Similarly, I do remember that article. Turned true, didn't it? There isn't anything left of that.

What have you been up to since those days?

Yo! Also been rummaging through the ol' abandonware sites and look who's still around. Hope you're still good Mr C. You remember doing this? https://reviewroundup.wordpress.com/about/

Well done on keeping this site alive for so long!

Funny, I actually randomly stumbled onto here by finding your old article "Abandonware is dead" from 2004 :D what must you think now hah

Hello all! Name's John, a Retro gamer. I'm very much into anything related to old school gaming. I recently built a Raspberry Pi with RetroPie for the sake of nostalgia, but the hobby grew, and I bought CRTs old consoles, and try to live the days long past. Nice to be here!

Hi there,

I'm happy to join the "Good Old Days".

Started on my 6th birthday with a Commodore C64 in 1987.
Still playing - today on my retro AMD K6 233 with 48MB of RAM and an old ATI 3D Rage II card.
